Shrewsbury College is Shropshire’s largest college. The college operates at three campuses in Shrewsbury. We deliver a broad range of vocational and higher-level courses to 2300 16–18-year-olds, 4000 adult students, 300 HE students and 950 apprentices at our London Road Campus. 2100 A-Level students are taught at our Welsh and English Bridge Campuses in the centre of Shrewsbury. The college was inspected in March 2025 and judged to be ‘Outstanding’, with a ‘Strong’ contribution to skills. Vice Principal – Technical and Vocational Education
Full time, Permanent. Based at London Road campus.
Following the external promotion of the existing post-holder we are looking to recruit a new Vice Principal for Technical and Vocational Education. As a member of the senior leadership team the successful candidate will lead on technical and vocational education for 16–18-year-olds and adults, English and maths resits for these students, and the college’s Higher Education provision. The role has responsibility for ensuring the delivery of high quality education and developing the college’s response to the curriculum reforms in vocational and technical education.
As a member of an experienced and high performing seven-person senior leadership team you will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the technical and vocational curriculum from Level 1 to Level 7, delivered at our London Road campus. You will be aligned with the college’s student-centred ethos, and you will ensure that all our students make outstanding progress and that provision meets the skills needs of the region. You will drive and support the professional development of your management team of six high-performing directors and managers to maximise their potential. You will also be an outstanding teacher.
This role is the next step for a current Assistant Principal or Director. To be successful in this role, candidates must have experience of teaching and management in a further education college, or sixth form college with vocational provision. In addition, experience of managing HE provision will be an advantage.
