ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic, and driven individual to join our team at Optisol Services as our SHEQ Manager. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same, supporting our Solar construction projects. This role is key to ensuring our projects are delivered safely, to a high standard, and in line with the necessary regulations. You’ll take full responsibility for developing and maintaining our SHEQ systems, carrying out site inspections, and supporting our teams with practical guidance.

The right person will be hands-on, approachable, and confident in promoting a strong safety culture, while also keeping an eye on quality and compliance across all our projects. We’re looking for someone reliable, proactive, and detail-focused, with experience in SHEQ management. Previous experience in construction or renewables is an advantage but not essential, the right attitude is most important. You will play an important role in shaping how we work and continue to grow.

RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Provide SHEQ compliance, advice, guidance with applicable legislation and industry best practice
  • Provide advice and guidance on CDM compliance
  • Prepare and review RAMS and other safety documentation to help support the operational functions within each business
  • Carrying out inductions, training, and toolbox talks
  • Delivery and monitoring of on-site inspections
  • Manage and maintain the company’s SHEQMS in line with our ISO45001, 14001 and 9001 certification, including preparation for internal and external audits
  • Support with the completion and submission of ITT’s and PQQ’s
  • Lead and/or support the investigation of incidents, analyse data and present findings to the management team, including recommendations to prevent recurrence
  • Vendor review (suppliers, subcontractors), audit, and inspections
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly reports in relation to performance against objectives, KPI targets and SHEQ performance
  • Engage with the workforce on behavioural safety topics
  • Monitoring and review of all incidents, near misses and positive interventions. Analyse trends and develop actions where appropriate and report these back to the central team
  • Assist with the implementation of the divisional and Group initiatives, and campaigns.
  • Draw on your own experience to assist our managers, operatives and supply chain in making the construction process safer, healthier and more sustainable.
  • Provide assistance and report into the RSK SHEQ team

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Adaptable and flexible – will need to work flexible hours to meet deadlines / callouts and to work away from home.
  • Full Clean UK driving licence
  • Significant experience in a SHEQ Management role, with a proven track record of managing H&S across multiple sites
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is advantageous. NEBOSH General / Construction Certificate as a minimum
  • CertIOSH membership is advantageous, GradIOSH membership as a minimum
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations
  • Knowledge of environment, traffic and waste management advantageous
  • An in-depth knowledge of SHEQ management systems, with experience of the requirements of ISO 45001, 14001 and 9001
  • CSCS card holder
  • Good technical knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Travel (UK) for up to 50% of workload
  • Strong written and verbal communication is essential to the role.
  • Computer literate and skilled with Microsoft Office applications
  • Self-motivated, with diligence, integrity and ambition.
