Are you a skilled Maintenance Fitter looking for a role where you can make a real impact on plant reliability, safety and performance? Join Heidelberg Materials and play a vital part in keeping our operations running efficiently through high‑quality mechanical maintenance, continuous improvement and hands‑on problem solving
As a Maintenance Fitter, you will take responsibility for mechanical maintenance across the site-ensuring equipment is safe, reliable and compliant. You will complete planned and preventative maintenance, respond to faults, support production and electrical teams, and help us continuously improve plant performance. This role also involves providing out‑of‑hours breakdown cover on a rota basis.
What You'll Do
Maintenance & Operations
- Carry out planned, preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance
- Complete daily inspections, fault reporting and corrective actions
- Ensure accurate maintenance records and compliance with schedules and procedures
- Support shutdown planning and execution
- Maintain workshop standards, equipment condition and materials storage
- Assist with plant upgrades, improvements and modification projects
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work in line with Heidelberg Materials' Safety and Sustainability policies
- Ensure safe isolations and adherence to permits and risk assessments
- Report accidents, incidents and near hits promptly
- Maintain clean, safe working environments at all times
- Uphold compliance with all company policies, procedures and legislation
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with operations, engineering, contractors and suppliers
- Provide support to production teams including holiday/sickness cover when required
- Participate in departmental, planning, health & safety and project meetings
- Communicate effectively across internal teams and external partners
What You'll Need
- Completed recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical, Welding or Fabrication disciplines
- Strong mechanical fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
- Experience with preventative maintenance techniques
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements
- Knowledge of electrical isolation and permitting procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility regarding tasks and working hours
- Good written and verbal communication
- Mobile plant licences (Forklift, Bobcat, Loading Shovel, MEWP) advantageous
- Self‑motivation, organisation and a commitment to continuous development
