Commercial Account Manager – Renewals & Retention (Broker) | Office Based
Location: Shrewsbury / Shropshire
Salary: Up to £45,000 DOE
Hours: Full-time, Permanent

We’re recruiting a Commercial Account Manager to join an established, independent insurance broker in the Shrewsbury area. This role is focused on nurturing and retaining an existing portfolio of commercial clients, managing renewals, mid-term adjustments and day-to-day service. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys being the go-to person for customers and delivering a brilliant experience that keeps clients loyal.
This is not a claims-focused position. Your day-to-day will be centred on renewals, retention and account servicing.
The Role: What you’ll be doing
- Manage and retain a portfolio of existing commercial clients as their main point of contact
- Lead the renewal process end-to-end, ensuring timely, accurate and well-presented renewal discussions
- Build strong relationships with business owners and decision-makers, understanding their needs and anticipating upcoming changes
- Handle mid-term adjustments (MTAs) and day-to-day policy servicing, keeping records accurate and up to date
- Proactively contact clients ahead of renewal dates to reduce lapses and improve retention
- Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities within the existing book where appropriate
- Deliver a high standard of customer care, resolving queries quickly and keeping communication clear and professional
- Work closely with internal broking/placement colleagues to ensure policies are renewed and updated correctly
About You
- Experience in a commercial insurance account handling / servicing / renewals role (broker environment preferred)
- Confident managing renewals, retention conversations and ongoing customer relationships
- Good working knowledge of commercial lines such as commercial combined, liability, property, motor, fleet and package policies
- Strong organisation skills and attention to detail, comfortable managing multiple renewals and deadlines
- Professional communication skills and a customer-first approach
- Good IT skills (Acturis/SSP beneficial but not essential), plus Word/Outlook/Excel
- CII qualification progress is advantageous, or willingness to study
