Job Information

We have an exciting opportunity for a caring and compassionate Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our team working in our forensic low secure inpatient services based at the NHS Redwoods Hospital in Shrewsbury.

We are seeking applications from first-level registered Adult nurses who have successfully completed an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and will ideally be able to demonstrate knowledge of working in a mental health setting.

As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, you will be working with service users with a range of complex physical and mental health needs. You will be part of a Multidisciplinary team providing care to service users on Willow ward (Low secure male mental health rehabilitation ward). As an ACP you will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and senior clinical leads and other ACP’s in the development of Advanced clinical practice across the service and in the delivery of high standards of safe and quality care

The successful candidate will work as an autonomous practitioner, utilising advanced knowledge, skills and expertise in relation to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of a range of physical health and mental health conditions.

This exciting opportunity supports working within the four pillars of advanced practice: - education, clinical practice, leadership and research.

Main duties

Advanced clinical practice is delivered by experienced, registered health and care practitioners. It is a level of practice characterised by a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making. This is underpinned by a master’s level award or equivalent that encompasses the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research, with demonstration of core capabilities and area specific clinical competence.

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will therefore be required to embody the ability to manage clinical care in partnership with individuals, families and carers. This will include the analysis and synthesis of complex problems across a range of settings, enabling innovative solutions to enhance people’s experience and improve outcomes.

Advanced nurse practitioners are highly experienced and educated members of the care team who can diagnose and treat conditions and refer onwards to appropriate specialists if needed.

As such the ACP will be expected to:

·       Hold an appropriate Masters level award with appropriate modules in Advanced Health Assessment and in Non-Medical Prescribing

·       Take responsibility for own learning and development by recognising and taking advantage of all opportunities to learn, in line with core professional competencies of the Advanced Clinical Practitioner, including full participation in appraisal and supervision, and acting as role model for self-development.
