Information

Shrewsbury's Unitarian Church is a beautiful Grade II listed building overlooking the town's High Street. The Church is open Tuesday - Thursday, Sundays and occasional Saturdays, with weekly services held.

The Church was founded as a meeting house by Reverend Francis Tallents and Reverend John Bryan in 1662, after the Great Ejection and their expulsions from St Mary's Church and St Chad's Church. The building was rebuilt on the site in 1839 when the fronts of High Street's properties were set further back, and the Church lost 8 feet of its courtyard.

Many of Shrewsbury's important people attended the Church over the years, including Charles Darwin worshipped at the church until he was eight years of age, when his mother died in 1817.
