Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings

Spring Gardens, Shrewsbury, SY1 2SZ

Information

Situated just outside Shrewsbury town centre, the internationally important Flaxmill Maltings site reflects a time when Shropshire led the way in engineering. The site is home to eight special buildings each with a unique story to tell, including the 1797 Main Mill which is the grandparent of skyscrapers.

This remarkable piece of the industrial revolution continues to be restored. The exhibition, The Mill, and Turned Wood Cafe offer a calm, peaceful space to enjoy history and great food for visitors and locals to the area.

Visitors can come along and experience the amazing stories of this place and its people by buying tickets to The Mill. Alternatively, there is no charge to simply wander the courtyards and take in the buildings in your own time and perhaps enjoy a drink and a bite to eat in the Cafe.

For businesses seeking a unique and historic location, there are a number of offices to let on the top four floors of the Main Mill.
