Watch Our Egg-ceptional New Promotion for Original Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury Business Improvement District (BID), the force behind Original Shrewsbury and Work in Shrewsbury, hopes to crack you up with a new Original Shrewsbury marketing campaign – a whimsical promotional film like no other, featuring a colourful cast of decorative Easter eggs racing their way around town in a truly unique egg and spoon adventure.
The short film showcases the spirit, sights, and standout personality of Shrewsbury through the eyes of its eggy protagonists. From cobbled streets and historic landmarks to quirky independents and the buzzing Market Hall, the video takes viewers on a playful tour of what makes Shrewsbury truly original.
Local businesses were invited to decorate their own wooden eggs and contribute to the narrative, leading to a delightful array of scenes where eggs don bow ties, sprout unicorn horns, run afoul of the law, whizz through the Market Hall, and even take a frosty dive into heaped scoops of gelato.
“The idea was to capture the heart and soul of Shrewsbury in a way that was fun, fresh, and full of personality,” said EJ Hopson-VandenBos, Communications and Engagement Lead at Shrewsbury BID. “We’ve all seen, and taken, beautiful pictures and videos of the town before – but never through the eyes of a dozen Easter eggs! It’s this kind of out of the box thinking that makes our town special. We think this film exemplifies the fun and heart you can expect to find when you visit our original Shrewsbury!”
The film is the latest in Shrewsbury BID’s efforts to champion local businesses and promote the town as a vibrant, independent, and welcoming destination for residents and visitors alike. In November, Shrewsbury was named Britain’s Best High Street by The Telegraph, and in March this year, it was featured in the Sunday Times’ list of the Top Places to Live in the UK.
The video was produced by Shrewsbury company Highly Flammable Studios. Aaron Child, videographer and founder of the studio, added: “Name a better way to show off Shrewsbury than by letting people have a good old laugh with an egg and a spoon. Around twenty different businesses willingly jumping out of their routine to do something totally silly. It’s incredible, I have been in hysterics – at one bit in particular I think I laughed so hard I nearly passed out!”
Participating businesses not only helped design their eggs but also got creative in highlighting their business in imaginative ways.
“The team at the new Shrewsbury Museum Café happily hopped into Original Shrewsbury’s joyful Easter celebration of our town,” said Louise Preece, SM&AG. “Our chef, Wayne Page took centre-stage with his magic skills and you too will enjoy watching eggs disappear before your eyes when you come and try Wayne’s legendary Eggs Benedict from our new brunch menu!”
The promotional film is now live and available to watch on Original Shrewsbury’s social media channels and website, or via YouTube.
