Active Travel in Shrewsbury's Future

Shrewsbury is already a great place to ditch the car and commute by bike or on foot, and it's about to get better. The town will welcome a range of new travel options in the next 12 months, including a new bike hire scheme and river taxi.

Shrewsbury's Big Town Plan Partnership has secured more than £340,000 of UK Shared Prosperity (UKSPF) funding for its new bike hire scheme, plus cargo bikes for last-mile deliveries to the town centre and increased cycle storage for workers and residents.
The Shrewsbury River Taxi service is being developed with the help of the Shrewsbury Men’s Shed group and the operators of the Sabrina riverboat.

Planning for our future
Local organisations, businesses and residents are working together to help Shrewsbury evolve and develop for the good of everyone with the Big Town Plan.
It’s ambitious and bold, reshaping the physical public realm and matching it with an outstanding public experience. The Big Town Plan hopes to revolutionise movement around our town and attract vital investment. Discover more.
