- Claims Handler
Job Information
As one of 3 new roles in this long established and reputable Shrewsbury business, ever growing and promoted only by word of mouth, they now seek to expand the team with a Claims Handler.
The individual is required to work from the busy office 4 days per week to support the many incoming customer calls, with the 5th day available as a work?from?home day.
In this role you are supporting an essential yet struggling sector, and therefore your priority is to guide customers through the claims process with clarity, empathy and diligence. Recording first notification of loss, handling claims enquiries, liaising with insurers and other related parties, and ensuring each customer feels supported from start to finish are the core responsibilities in this customer-focused brokerage.
With such a reputation in their field comes a high expectation of their staff. This is a unique position requiring the highest calibre of candidate with a specific skill set and an understanding of the need to operate in a particular way to service the clients THE WAY THEY NEED.
Using traditional communication methods including face?to?face visits and handwritten paper customer records, the proprietor and his long?standing team have built a trusted and valued service offering to their agricultural client base who trust this insurance brokerage.
The desirable candidate
- A background in insurance, ideally as a Claims Handler or in a similar role, with a solid understanding of the claims journey from first notification to settlement.
- Acturis experience is a real advantage, as this system provides the central database supporting all client data from initial policy to claim completion.
- Exceptional customer service skills. Your customer works 24/7 – they don’t want to send an email or sift through paperwork to find contact details. They are picking up the phone to you. You must possess empathy, a proactive disposition and a can?do attitude to assist with any question or query they have.
- Patience and tolerance – an appreciation that traditional paper customer records are used here to maintain the high?quality, personal service the brokerage is known for. The owner himself can pick up a file, drive to a farm and meet with the customer, paper file in hand, without delaying the farmer’s demanding daily schedule.
What do you get in return
- A very attractive salary starting at £35,000 per annum
- Healthcare following 1 years’ service
- Company pension
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Central and accessible Shrewsbury location
- Hybrid working
Hours are 35 per week – Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm with a 1hour lunch break.
